Neha Mehlawat
Neha joined the Dynamic Micro Devices group in December, 2021 as a PhD student. Her research currently focuses on combining microfluidics and spectroscopic techniques for a quick bacterial detection. She is interested in using microfluidics for biomedical applications including point-of-care/point-of-site diagnostic/testing applications.
Neha completed her masters in Applied Chemistry from Amity University, India in 2018 and bachelors in Life Sciences from Miranda House, University of Delhi, India in 2015. During her masters, she worked as a research intern at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India and as a Research Assistant at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. At JNU and NTU, she worked on an electrochemical and optical biosensor for detection of a cancer biomarker and bacteria respectively. From these research and other academic engagements, she gained practical experience in Analytical chemistry, Absorbance, Fluorescence and Infrared spectroscopy, and Voltammetry techniques.
She has won many awards and scholarships in her academic life. Additionally, she has a Teaching Assistant role for Micro and Nano Technologies at Monash University. Neha also holds a Resident Advisor position at the university accommodation she lives in and hence does a lot of volunteering work apart from her PhD life. In her free time, she likes to sketch, watch TV shows and movies. She is a foodie and loves to cook, bake, and eat!
